"It is quite plain," said Mr. Payne with disdain, "that the rain in Spain stays mainly in the plain...thanks to that zany crane ."
"Who's to blame when it rains in Spain? Surely not a plain crane?", said Ms. Fontaine.
"Not a plain crane, a ZANY crane, Ms. Fontaine. If one reigns when it rains, then it's a pain to chain the zany crane, who loves the rain and chewing one's cane," explained Mr. Payne
"So start a campaign, Mr. Payne, and march down the lane, with an angry refrain, and proclaim 'My great dane shall maim that zany crane who chews on my cane, and I'll send it on a plane, to a plain out of Spain, where there isn't any rain!'"
"That's insane!" the old man complained. "My cane has a stain because of the rain, and now I can't take the train because it is a strain to get on the train with a cane that's been stained and maimed by a crane! It's all in vain!"
"Then remain off the train, and sing in the rain! " Ms. Fontaine exclaimed as she threw his maimed cane into the sewer drain. "Obtain a new cane after the crane is on the plane!"
"Would it be sane to contain a chained crane on a plane and send it to a plain far away from Spain where there isn't any rain?"
"No, Mr. Payne. Contain the chained crane, with your great dane, on the plane going to the plain far away from Spain where it doesn't rain," said Ms. Fontaine.
So they remained sane in the rain, without a cane. The zany crane was chained, and sent on a plane far away from Spain to a plain where it never rains. The great dane, named Bane, didn't complain, as he maimed the crane before the plane reached the plain far away from Spain where it never rains, and ate the remains.
Mr. Payne now reigns in the rain, with his great dane that eats cranes, and his new cane, thanks to Ms. Fontaine, and never complained again about zany cranes.
